Water Sensors detect water under them and send a signal which causes the siren to sound and main valve to close preventing more water from entering the home.
The Hub sends out an email and Push Notification to your phone (Apple or Android) to alert you. Use the free app to see which device detected water and confirm that the master valve is closed.
1. Check the app to see where the leak has been detected and confirm that the master valve is closed.
2. Every source of water in the home should have its own manual shutoff valve. Close the manual valve at the source of the leak by turning the handle clockwise.
3. Restore water to the rest of your home by pressing the button on the top of the Water Sensor which detected the leak which both resets that sensor and opens the master valve. Determine if you can fix the leak yourself or if you need to call in a plumber.
Yes. The sounds comes from either the water sensor that detects water or a separate siren depending upon the system installed.
Leak sensors send out signals repeatedly for a while once they detect water until they are manually reset. After a few hours, they stop sending emails.
Please keep in mind a sensor will be activated any time it comes into contact with water. As a result, false alarms can be caused by a number of reasons. It’s important to notify anyone working around your water fixtures (housekeepers, plumbers, contractors, etc) to:
Not move the sensors
Keep them dry
If a sensor accidentally gets wet, dry it off with a towel and push the button on top to reset the system and restore water.
Insteon sensor AA Lithium batteries are rated to last 10 years. Batteries are readily available.
Yes. Our valves are Stainless Steel and NSF certified safe for drinking water.
It is best to put sensors by every water fixture. Typically these include: washing machine, refrigerator, dishwasher, under every sink, and behind every toilet.
Yes. Our valves can operate under 3 feet of water. The valve is rated IP67 so it may be installed outdoors or indoors. All other components must be installed inside. In some cases, the valve controller may be installed in a weatherproof housing outdoors near the valve. In this case, an outdoor electrical outlet is required near where the valve is to be installed. Please call or write with questions.
Yes, there is an option to manually override the valve so it can be opened or closed, even if there is no electricity in your home.
No. The wireless water sensors and valve controller are linked to communicate directly with each other and will close the master valve without connection to internet or wifi.
Yes. The hub uses internet to send out alerts and show you which device detected water through the app.
While you can protect your own unit, you are still at risk from your upstairs neighbors. Speak with your condo/HOA board about protecting your entire building. We can protect your entire building and immediately alert security if any sensors detect water. Some sensors detect temperature changes as well as water.
Check your local codes but you probably want a registered plumber to install the automatic valve. All componenet will come to you linked and labelled. Just plug the valve into the valve controller, place the sensors in their labelled location, plug in the siren, plug in the hub and attach to your router or cable modem with the ethernet cord (included). Download the free app, log in and your're all set. We've done all the tedious work for you!
