SUCCESS STORIES
We were in New York City for the month of September. Our home watcher emailed me that there was no water running in the house when they tried to flush the toilets. It would have been better if he had phoned me while he was at our house. I checked the app on my phone to determine what the problem was. I had installed a washlet toilet seat and the hose was dripping. I called my father-in-law who lives in our community, told him where to go to shut off the water to that fixture, had him dry the floor and push the button on the leak detector and water was restored. I was able to repair the leak when we returned home.
During the installation of a new system, the automatic valve had not yet been installed by the plumber but all of the sensors were in place so we installed a siren in place of the valve. I saw an email the next morning that the resident had reset the system 3:00am on a Saturday night. It turns out a leak had developed in a faucet handle in the master bathroom and the system detected the leak and set off the siren which woke him up. He just shut off the valve under the sink and cleaned up a little pouddle in the vanity. The plumber repaired the faucet while he was installing the master valve.
A husband turned on the hot water and while waiting for the hot wet to arrive he was called away by his wife. A washcloth was in the sink and stopped the drain. He was reminded that water was running when the siren went off and the automatic valve closed. He had some water to mop up but catastrophe was averted.
After installing our system in a home which had previously experienced a costly flood from a toilet supply line, we received a signal that there was a leak under a guest bath sink. The owner was out of town for the summer. I went to the home, shut off the valve under the sink, cleaned up and reset the system. About a week later, we reeived another signal from the same sansor. It turns out the valve was leaking on the supply side so shutting off the valve under the sink did not matter. We left the main valve off until a plumber could repair the leak after which water was restored to the home. Had the leak persisted for months it would have made a moldy mess of the vanity and possible more damage.
